FLORIDA CITRUS MUTUAL

In the 1970s the members of Florida Citrus Mutual adopted the slogan, "If it's Good for the Grower, Mutual’s Doing It!" Now, fifty years later, with a hint of nostalgia and a continued commitment to the Florida citrus industry, we proudly present our new Good for the Grower line of merchandise.

Good for the Grower shirts and hats are now available to our growers, friends, and all supporters in exchange for donations to be utilized for the Julia C. Black Memorial Scholarship Fund and other educational programs supported by Florida Citrus Mutual.

The Julia C. Black Scholarship Fund was created in honor of the late Julia Christine Black, daughter of long-time Florida Citrus Mutual members Larry and Jenny Black. Julia died in October 2023 at the age of 16 after a sudden cardiac arrest caused by a pericardial infection.

Julia grew up in the Florida citrus industry and attended the Florida Citrus Industry Annual Conference with her family almost every summer.

She was an honor student, a member of the varsity volleyball team at Lakeland High School and a member of the orchestra and lead oboist at the Harrison School for the Arts. She was involved in many clubs and activities and actively volunteered in her community.

In its inaugural year, the Julia C. Black Memorial Scholarship awarded nearly $3,000 to students across the state.

All proceeds go to the Julia C. Black Scholarship Fund.
