January 4, 2008 - Deadline for Flow Meter Accuracy Reports is Approaching!
The South West Florida Water Management District is reminding growers to keep their flow meters accurate. In January 2003 Swiftmud’s Southern Water Use Caution Area (SWUCA) rules went into effect and changed the reporting schedule for flow meter accuracy testing.
Under the old rule, meter accuracy had to be reported to the District every two years. But SWUCA mandates the reports be submitted every five years. The deadline for testing is right around the corner. Most are January 31, 2008 but some vary so find your permit and make sure you get tested in time. Affected growers should have also received an email or a letter from the district regarding this issue.
In an effort to assist growers, the District has listed companies that can perform accuracy testing on their website at http:/www.watermatters.org/permits/consultants/. The District will extend the deadline for growers who cannot get a test scheduled before January 31, 2008. Please contact the district’s Regulation Performance Management PMD staff at 1-800-423-1476 if you need an extension.
For more information please call Laurie Hurner at 863-381-4135.
FINAL NOTE: Please remember to report your cold protection pumpage to the district as soon as possible. If you do not report the pumpage as cold protection pumpage it will count against your permit credits.
